Ross Wood, CEcD

Mr. Ross Wood originally joined the Capital Certified Development Corporation (CCDC) as Senior Business Development Officer. Ross now serves as the Manager of the company’s Corporate Communications Group. This position is responsible for company wide business outreach, marketing, and various other company promotions. Ross brings diverse business experience to the Capital economic development team from both the community and state levels.

Prior to joining Capital CDC, Ross worked as a Location Specialist and as Interim Director of the Corporate Expansion and Recruitment office for the Texas Economic Development (TxED) agency. There he had the opportunity to assist prospects from the developed stage to project completion. He was responsible for answering all information requests from businesses regarding state programs, the generation and dissemination of leads, and the coordination of projects with local community economic developers.

Before his work with the state's economic development agency, Ross was the Executive Director of the Greater Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce in Hillsboro, Texas. There he served as the economic development point of contact for the city, as well as serving as Vice President of the Hillsboro Economic Development Corporation. Ross had the opportunity to work with a variety of companies, in both location and expansion type scenarios.

Prior to his work in economic development, he also has served in the higher education field as Assistant Director of Admissions at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas and as an Admission Counselor/Recruiter for the Admission Office at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He also served four-years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps as a Combat Correspondent, where he had the opportunity to work in a variety of areas including public affairs, community relations, photography, journalism and broadcasting.

Ross earned an M.A. in Human Behavior from National University in San Diego, California, and a B.A. in Speech Communication from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He holds the designation of a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) and is also a graduate of the Economic Development Institute (EDI). Ross is a member of the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) and a member of the National Association of Development Companies (NADCO).
