+ Loan Specialist: This Loan Specialist position will be responsible for the efficient underwriting and processing of Small Business Administration (SBA) 504 Loan projects. The Loan Specialist will work as a member of the Loan Underwriting & Processing team in order to meet the objectives of the group and the organization. The Loan Specialist will be required to underwrite and process the loan as well as identify, request and monitor documents required from lenders and business owners to complete the SBA 504 loan application process. This position serves as the transition point from receiving the loan projects from the Business Development Officers (BDO) to obtaining SBA loan approval and handing off the project to the Closing department. The position requires continual contact with external commercial loan personnel as well as internal staff. Capital CDC’s markets necessitate a high level of patience and assistance lenders and borrowers may need in understanding the technicalities and requirements of the SBA 504 Loan Program. A passion for Capital CDC’s mission and protocol combined with traditional financial analysis and underwriting experience, will be needed to carry out the key tasks and responsibilities of this position. Duties: • Read and interpret financial statements to perform credit analysis for commercial loans and measure against minimum loan criteria. Requires spreading financial statements, calculating ratios, developing financial projections and effectively communicating assumptions and repayment ability in both written and verbal form • Complete loan underwriting and final loan summary and submitting proposal to Loan Committee for approval • Process loan files, gather and verify accuracy of documents received • Track and follow-up required documentation to insure that each stage of the process is efficiently managed • Determine and execute appropriate actions to ensure all document issues are resolved • Order required credit reports, appraisals and other documentation to complete loan files • Assist Business Development Officers with lender and borrower discussions during underwriting period • Attend appropriate industry conferences and training to become knowledgeable and proficient in the 504 program • Keep abreast of all company policies and procedures as well as those specifically related to the SBA 504 Loan Program Skills/Qualifications: • Experience in commercial loan underwriting, processing and packaging • Experience in loan proposal writing • Experience underwriting SBA 504 loans and 7a is a plus. • Financial Accounting skills • Experience in financial statement analysis • Ability to work independently, analyze, problem-solve, and make sound decisions based on SBA and internally established policies and procedures • Exceptional attention to detail with strong follow-through skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel Bonus opportunity: The bonus structure for the Loan Specialist is based on the number of loans processed on a per month basis.
