Booming event business has Brodie Homestead owner hunting for more space

With the events business bustling in Austin, the owner of two of the city’s more distinct event spaces is in the market for more property so he can book more business.

Dan Ross, a local attorney who owns the Brodie Homestead and Allan House event facilities, said he is in talks for at least one new piece of property and is keeping an eye open for “landmark structures” that help to sell themselves as a location for weddings and corporate bookings.

Ross said he hopes to have a deal closed on a new property within a year, and said he expects business to more than double to over 110 events per year at Brodie Homestead, a historic barn structure on Brodie Lane and Texas Highway 71. Ross got the South Austin property under contract in 2011 and opened it for business last year after an extensive renovation.
