On a back porch in 2011 with some beer samples for courage, Solid Rock Brewing was formed. Founded by three couples, Solid Rock Brewing is a production Craft Brewery located on the south shore of Lake Travis in Spicewood, Texas.
Craft beer is experiencing a nationwide resurgence and Austin is at the forefront of the craft movement in Texas. Austin is quickly moving up in the lists of top craft beer cities and was recently ranked #6 by the Huffington Post. Topping 48 other states, in 2012 the Texas craft beer industry contributed over $2.3 billion dollars to the Texas economy according to a study released by the Brewers Association (BA), a national non-profit trade association representing independent craft breweries in the United States. A forecast by the Texas Craft Brewer’s Guild predicts that Texas craft breweries will have an annual $5.6 billion overall economic impact by 2020.
Solid Rock was pleased to partner locally with Capital CDC and Horizon Bank for SBA 504 Financing. Solid Rock owners agree that part of the appeal of the SBA 504 loan program was the emphasis on job creation. Solid Rock expects to create 7 jobs within the next 2 years and they are very proud to be a part of the Texas craft beer movement and the contributions that movement is making in the Texas economy. Locally, several companies and individuals have been employed for the various construction, assembly and maintenance operations.
Currently, Solid Rock Brewing has four offerings in the market distributed by Brown Distributing: Cornerstone, a classic American cream ale; Roundhead Red, a classic Irish Red, Dauntless IPA, a well-balanced, European style India Pale Ale and Cho’Sen a specially crafted golden ale. These are available at many local Austin retailers and restaurants. Solid Rock will release Big Drought Stout, a classic Irish Stout in September 2014 and Trinity Vanilla Milk Stout early 2015.
